These graves are not thought to belong to royalty but to wealthy, prominent families and persons. The tombs date back to the 3rd-century B.C. The most impressive tombs are peristyle with Doric columns encircling an open court or lining the entrance way to the tomb. Each tomb was carved out from native rock and typically contained several graves (burial places). Most, if not nearly all, of these graves would have been present when Paul was visiting the city.

My Russian Friend...Maxim.
I met Maxim and his wife while walking around the Tomb of the Kings. He is a water systems engineer helping the Cyprus government with their water control and quality issues. He and his wife were nice enough to walk a couple kilometers to the bus stop with me. We had great conversation and I learned a thing or two about Russia that I did not know.
